Today’s Video: Black Sabbath – Am I Going Insane (Radio)

Although common conception is that the suffix "Radio" was said to be added to the title because it was made for the purpose of being played on the radio, drummer Bill Ward said that it was Cockney rhyming slang for "mental"; radio-rental. Critics also have said it was ironic that all the members of Black Sabbath except for Tony Iommi later suffered from clinical depression.

Although happy with most of the songs on Sabotage, lead singer, Ozzy Osbourne did not like the responses he got with "Am I Going Insane (Radio)" or "Supertzar." Due to Osbourne's implication that the two tracks in particular were distractions on what would otherwise be a perfect album. AllMusic reviewers claimed that the song was unrecognizable for Black Sabbath and that it was a reckless attempt to change the band's identity. Despite Osbourne's feeling towards the song and negative reviews its popularity caused it to appear as the only track from Sabotage on Sabbath's greatest hits album We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll.--wiki

Today’s Video: Black Sabbath – Iron Man
The song was originally entitled "Iron Bloke". Upon hearing the main guitar riff for the first time, Osbourne remarked that it sounded "like a big iron bloke walking about". The title was later changed to "Iron Man".
Despite the song's title, it bears no connection to the Marvel superhero character Iron Man, which was created and first appeared in Tales of Suspense # 39 March 1963 (though it has become associated with the character due to this misconception, and was used in the 2008 film Iron Man based on the Marvel character). Butler wrote the lyrics as the story of a man who time travels into the future, and sees the apocalypse. In the process of returning to the present, he is turned into steel by a magnetic field. He is rendered mute, unable verbally to warn people of his time of the impending destruction. His attempts to communicate are ignored and mocked. This causes Iron Man to become angry, and have his revenge on mankind, causing the destruction seen in his vision. The vocal effects on Osbourne's opening line, "I am Iron Man", were achieved by having him sing from behind a metal fan-wiki

When researchers at Weill Cornell Medical College scanned teenage brains, they found that the area that regulates emotional responses has to work harder to keep impulses in check.

Black Sabbath – Evil Woman

"Evil Woman (Don’t Play Your Games With Me)" is a song written and recorded by Minneapolis-based band Crow that appeared on their 1969 album Crow Music. It was covered in 1970 by Black Sabbath and was released as their first single (also known as "Evil Woman" simply). The song also appeared on Sabbath's debut album, Black Sabbath, later that year.

Despite being Sabbath's first single, "Evil Woman" was excluded from Black Sabbath's debut album in the United States, being replaced by "Wicked World". The song was first officially released in the U.S. in 2002, on the compilation Symptom of the Universe: The Original Black Sabbath 1970-1978.-wiki

Today’s Video: Bee Gees – "Kiss of Life"

Size Isn't Everything is the Bee Gees' twentieth studio album (eighteenth worldwide), released in the UK on 13 September 1993, and the US on 2 November of the same year.

The album was recorded following a time of considerable strain for the Gibb brothers. Maurice had only recently managed to overcome his long-term struggle with alcoholism and Barry Gibb's wife and prematurely newborn daughter both suffered ill health. Barry himself was also scheduled to have back surgery.

Then on 5 March 1992, the brothers' father, Hugh Gibb, died. The date coincided with the birthday of their late brother Andy, who had died in 1988. The album was dedicated to Hugh. -wiki

Diana Ross – Chain Reaction

Bee Gees - Secret Love

"Secret Love" is a song by the Bee Gees. It was the lead single of their album High Civilization, released in March 1991. It is an up-tempo ballad with a clear Supremes style similar to the 1986 Diana Ross hit "Chain Reaction", which was written by The Bee Gees. The single reached the Top 10 in many European countries, but was not released as a single in the US. -wiki

The original video was deemed too sexual and was subsequently toned down. The controversy of the video hurt airplay of the single, though it charted well in the Adult Contemporary market reaching #9. -wiki
